Scorpions - all bustle and belligerence

February 26, 2019

HAVING now become temporarily obsessed with fossils (must be something to do with my age!), I've come up with the form of a scorpion imprinted on rock.

Scorpions are strange creatures, all bustle and belligerence, with that hooked weapon on their backs, threatening mayhem and death to all who threaten them. I've always imagined them to be sociopathic and unwaveringly malevolent, but I suppose even they must have a good side. Perhaps they are marvellous parents, with a knack for raising happy families. Which makes it even odder that they should grow up as violent delinquents. Nature is a mass of mysteries and contradictions. Anyway, here it is - Fossilised Scorpion.
