A Flock of Snowbirds

INSPIRED by recent snowfall (though we've had none in glorious West Cornwall) I got to work on a new painting this week, a kind of sequel to my popular print Crows in a Wintry Field.

This time I chose a vertical format with crow-like birds in a snowstorm, using acrylic paint to achieve a three-dimensional effect and my trusty gel pens to create contrasting colours.

What appeals to me most is the composition, with birds hovering as they come in to land on barely visible horizontal wires. The title is, inevitably, Snowbirds - a term usually applied to elderly sun seekers who move from Canada to the Caribbean during the winter.
