Behold a ceramic 'skyline'
'CAN we see more pots, please?' asks a West Country reader, so here they are.
This ensemble temporarily occupied a shelf in our Cornish home, with lighting adjusted to highlight the various shapes. It includes big-bellied vases, the taller coiled 'wonky' pot, and one or two thrown pieces from the distant 1980s.
There's something strangely satisfying about pot-making, as pleasure from a job well done is enhanced by the realisation that one's creations will be around much longer than we are. Can it really be that in, say, 2117, someone's gaze will fall upon these noble forms and acknowledge the fact that they were the work of a dedicated amateur in the late 20th and early 21st centuries?
Most creative souls like to think they are contributing to the edification and enlightenment of future generations, so it's with high hopes and no little pride that I offer this 'skyline' of pots for your delectation.
