Meet Claudius the paperweight

I KNOW what you're thinking. This is a pre-Christian artefact I found in my garden, a crude but weirdly alluring carving from a distant era.

In fact, I fashioned it out of St Agnes clay and photographed it against a backdrop of woven cloth.

The clay was air-dried and then varnished and now serves as an unusual paperweight. The face is far from handsome, but I quite like it. His name is Claudius.
