A simple example of Quick Art
ART is all about challenges, in this case the challenge to produce a still life painting in ten minutes.
I wanted part of it to be in the crude relief of acrylic paint, so daubed that on first to provide the framework for what was to come - a swirl of felt-tips loosely applied to create the feel of spontaneity.
The result is Still Life in Sunlight, another candidate for my bookmark collection.
It is rough and ready, a cacophony of brush and pen strokes on white card - and it is the white that makes it work.
I resisted the temptation to fill the page with colour and let the white do the talking.
PS I spent more than ten minutes on this picture. An hour at least. I think there's a case for quick art. Too much cogitation is sometimes a bad thing.
