A load of old fossils
IT all began with a photograph in my local newspaper.
An auction house was selling a picture of fossilised fish. There was something about its form, colour and texture that inspired me to produce my own image on the same theme.
With no further reference to the photograph, I went off to my study and produced this, a picture of three 'fossilised' fish. It is a simple drawing on an A4 sheet of yellowish paper, the marks made by children's marker pens, gel pens and other media, all foraged from my chaotic desktop.
Unsurprisingly, I've called it Fossilised Fish. It will be among prints on show at this year's week-long Flushing Arts Festival, starting May 27.
